The BASIS Charter Schools network is made of 37 tuition-free, public charter schools throughout the United States. Our high schools are among U.S. News & World Report’s highest-ranking public schools in the country, and our primary schools lay the foundation for this success.




There are two BASIS Charter Schools in Baton Rouge: BASIS Baton Rouge Primary Mid City (serving grades K–5) and BASIS Baton Rouge Materra (serving grades K–8). Students of all grade levels participate in hands-on activities and lessons designed to cultivate a love of learning. Our curriculum emphasizes skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, innovation, and creativity—all of which are crucial for students’ success in high school and college.




The Open Enrollment period for the 2023–24 school year at BASIS Baton Rouge Primary Mid City and BASIS Baton Rouge Materra runs from October 19, 2022 to December 14, 2022. Parents of potential students, waitlisted applicants, and current BASIS Baton Rouge parents whose child wishes to transfer to a different BASIS Baton Rouge campus are all welcome to apply.




If you reside in the East Baton Rouge Parish School District, don’t miss your chance to enroll your child in one of the nation’s highest-performing public school networks. Applications submitted after Open Enrollment ends will be processed on a first come, first served basis, following applications received during the Open Enrollment period.
